Batwara 1947 (transl.?Partition 1947) is an upcoming Hindi-language period drama film co-written and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, and produced by Aamir Khan under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.[4] Set in Lahore against the backdrop of the 1947 partition of India and the division of Punjab,[5] the film stars Sunny Deol,[6] Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare, and Kanikka Kapur.[7][8] The film is based on Asghar Wajahat's drama Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai.[9][10] This is expected to be Zinta's comeback film after an eight-year hiatus.[11]
